Introduction

Bantar consider themselves sudras, that is, those from the lowest of the four main sectors of the Hindu pecking order. We don't know for sure, but their name may come from the word “bans” which refers to bamboo. They are most noted for making bamboo goods, but some either fish or make thatched roofing for homes. They live in West Bengal and Bihar.

Ministry Obstacles

West Bengal and Bihar are both very unreached states, and there are few, if any, Christ followers among the Bantar people. Few Bantar people will ever meet someone who lives for the Lord of lords. However, all kinds of gospel materials exist in their Maithili language including audio recordings, the JESUS film and a New Testament. These can be accessed from cell phones and computers.

Outreach Ideas

Pray for the Followers of Christ

Pray for the Entire People Group

Pray for the authority of Christ to bind hindering spiritual forces, and to lead them from darkness to light.
Pray for signs and wonders among the Bantar, and great breakthroughs including rapid multiplication of disciples and house churches.
Pray for bold workers who are driven by the love of the Holy Spirit to go to them.
Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ among the Bantar community.
